Update - 6/2/2010
Fr. Liekhus and Fr. Fier are in negotiations with Side by Side Ministries, with the hopeful hiring of a new youth minister to begin in August.
Last summer, we heard a presentation by Side by Side Ministries, explaining to us their mission and what they have
to offer to St. John the Evangelist and Most Holy Trinity. The feedback from both communities was 100% positive,
and so a Vision Team was formed to begin the process of hashing out the details of what a shared youth ministry
program would look like. That process is now complete, and so it’s time to see if both parishes will commit
the necessary time and talent to make it work. Side by Side met with interested parishioners on February 10, explaining the different roles for which
we need committed volunteers. We are now in the process of filling these roles. If we can fill all of those roles, that’s a sign to the parishes that we should move
forward with our shared youth ministry. Please come to the meeting and be prepared to commit to volunteering. If
you were not able to come that evening but would like to volunteer, see below for the various
volunteer opportunities. You can contact the office and we will sign you up.
Junior High Team
Junior High Team members serve our Junior High students at scheduled meeting nights, fun outings and service opportunities. Participants are involved in small faith-sharing groups with students.
Training will be provided for interested volunteers.
2 adults needed
Time commitment—Monthly: 2 youth group meetings, 1 youth group outing, 1 prep meeting
Senior High Team
Senior High Team members serve our Senior High students at scheduled meeting nights, outreach events, and leadership and service opportunities. Participants will help create opportunities for
students to discuss faith and life as well as explore servant leadership.
Training will be provided for interested volunteers.
2 adults needed
Time commitment—Monthly: 2 youth group meetings, 1 prep meeting.
Support Team
This team is the behind-the-scenes crew. Opportunities to serve include hospitality for youth activities, set up and clean up, chaperone, prayer support, and administrative roles. This should be a large group so that there is a rotation of volunteers filling these roles. Really, every parent should sign up
for this team so that all are involved with youth ministry.
Adults needed: Enough so that nobody feels put upon to volunteer
Time commitment — Serve as you are able
Retreat Team
This team helps plan the four yearly retreats. Volunteers serve as chaperones, small group discussion leaders, outreach team members, game and community-building activity leaders, prayer support, speakers, and hospitality.
3 adults needed
Time commitment—4 prep meetings annually and participation in up to 2 weekend and
2 day-long retreats
Advisory Team
Advisory team members work together to give necessary support and direction to the youth
minister. Members come to know the vision and mission of our parish youth ministry and
advocate for the work of the program.

Time commitment—Monthly: 1 meeting
