Sponsor a student
It is our belief that a Catholic education should be available to all,
regardless of one's ability to pay. It costs over $5000 to educate each child
in the school. For the school year 2009-2010, our school families qualified for
$36,000 in financial aid. We do our very best at St. John's to give this aid
to all who need it. This fund needs to be replenished every year, which we try
to do via fundraisers by our Men's and Women's Clubs and our school, and
generous supporters of Catholic education like you. Every donation helps, and
goes directly towards tuition assistance. If we collect more than we need for
the current school year, we save it for the next school year.
Thank you, Sheila Doran, in memory of Tom Doran
Thank you to our generous grandparents at our Grandparents Day Mass

Adopt a Garden - 3 hours/week
The parish has a garden in the St. Francis Courtyard that could use some
regular TLC, as well as some planters at the entrances.
Thank you, Mary Kay Rottach, for adopting the Interlachen Road garden!

Vestment Hangers - $11.50 each
Because of the wide neck on liturgical vestments, they need a hanger larger
than a standard clothes hanger. Our vestments currently hang on standard
hangers, and they sometimes end up on the floor. They also can become
misshapened over time because they do not drape properly. We have sixteen
vestments and zero sixteen vestment hangers.
Donated! Thank you, John and Kay Case..

Pyx - $14.95 each
We have a number of parishioners who are homebound and unable to attend
Mass on Sunday. Fr. Liekhus and our volunteers carry the Eucharist to them
in a pyx, pictured to the left. There are times when a volunteer comes to
retrieve a pyx to bring communion to the homebound, but they are all being
used, so we could use a couple more to make sure there is always one available.

Order for the Solemn Exposition of the Holy Eucharist;
People's edition - $6.95 each
We expose the Holy Eucharist for adoration every Wednesday after the
morning Mass, but the people only have laminated cards with the songs to use.
We could use about 15; we currently have none.
ISBN 978-0-8146-2200-1

Order for the Solemn Exposition of the Holy Eucharist;
Presider's edition - $39.95
We expose the Holy Eucharist for adoration every Wednesday after the
morning Mass, but Fr. Liekhus uses a small book of prayers that isn't meant
for liturgical use.

|
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults- $26.95
This book is used to celebrate the various rites of Christian initiation
of adults. These include the rites of Acceptance, Sending, Baptism, and
Confirmation. The parish does not own this book. We currently type up
the various rites, and put them in a white three-ring binder.
Donated! Thank you, Bill and Kay Davies.
|

|
Pastoral Care of the Sick- $32.00
This book is used to celebrate the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick,
among other things. The parish does not own this book. Fr. Liekhus has his
own personal copy, which he keeps in his car and retrieves whenever someone
asks to be anointed after Mass.
Donated! Thank you, Bill and Kay Davies.

|
Chrome Holy Water Sprinkler- $64.50
An important part of the Rite of Christian Burial is sprinkling the
gravesite. We do not have a sprinkler that holds water in the handle, so
Fr. Liekhus uses a holy water bottle. This is functional, but it is not
ideal for sprinkling.
Donated! Thank you, Gary and Bridget Kanowitz, Ted and Kathy Colvin.

|
Spanish Language Sacramentary- $72.95
The sacramentary that we use for the Hispanic Mass is held together by
scotch tape, and not very effectively.
Donated! Thank you, members of the Hispanic community.
|

|
Small Cruets- $96.80
We don't have a set of matching cruets for daily Mass because accidents
happen, and cruets have broken. This set is crystal and much more durable
then the mismatched cruets we currently have.
Donated! Thank you Maryanne Remington, in memory of Milan Remington
and Michelle Garcia.

|
Standing Lectern - $99.95
We do not use servers at our daily Masses, which presents a problem
regarding the Sacramentary. Fr. Liekhus either holds the book in one hand,
which doesn't allow him to extend his hands as he should, or he puts it on the
altar, which is not a proper use of the altar. This lectern would be used to
hold the book in front of the presider's chair. It would also be used to hold
the lectionary for the lector when Mass is celebrated in the side chapel.
Donated! Thank you, in memory of Margaret McDonald

Three Kings Figures - $237.50
What's Christmas without Epiphany? Our nativity set is lacking the
three kings.

|
No Track Luna Holder - $325.00
The luna is the metal piece with a glass window that holds the Blessed
Sacrament for Solemn Exposition, and fits into the monstrance. When the
luna is kept in the tabernacle, it is customary to put it in a holder, so
that the Blessed Sacrament is not exposed in the tabernacle. The parish
does not own a luna holder that can be used for this purpose.

Confessional Prie Dieu - $595.00
The parish celebrates communcal penance services in Advent and Lent. We are
only able to use one confessional with a screen, so all the other priests are
at stations that are face-to-face. The faithful have the right to have their
confessions heard behind a screen. The parish currently owns no confessional
prie dieus.

|
Ambry - $1020.00
The ambry is the place where holy oils are normally stored. We don't
currently have an ambry, so we keep our holy oils in the tabernacle, which
should be reserved for the Eucharist. This ambry would be set into the wall,
so only the door would be visible, flush with the wall.

2004.

Cathedral of St. Paul Debt - $13,000,000
$13 Million still remains to be raised to complete payment on the $30
Million emergency restoration of the Cathedral’s copper dome and roof in
2000-02. The work was necessary to preserve this Beaux Arts landmark which is
still the highest point in Saint Paul in more ways than one!
