Rev. Jim Liekhus, Pastor

Fr. Liekhus has been pastor of St. John the Evangelist since 2008.  He is from north Minneapolis, attended St. Anne's elementary school, Benilde - St. Margaret's High School, St. John Vianney Seminary and The St. Paul Seminary at the University of St. Thomas.  He was ordained in 2005, and spent the first three years of priesthood as parochial vicar of Nativity of Our Lord in St. Paul.

Deacon Darrel Branch and Chris Branch

Deacon Branch joined St. John the Evangelist in 1968, and Chris joined him when they married in 1985. Deacon Branch was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 2004. He and Chris lead Loaves and Fishes at Holy Rosary in Minneapolis every other month. They also facilitate a support group for couples who struggle with infertility, and another for those who have lost a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death.

Kathy Segna, Prinicipal

Kathy has been our school principal since 2010. She received her Masters in Education through the College of St. Scholastica in 1998, and her Education Specialist Degree through the Murray Cohort at the University of St. Thomas in 2003.  Prior to St. John's, she was principal of Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Montgomery, MN from 1998-2002, and principal of St. Anne's Catholic School in LeSueur, MN from 2002-2010. Kathy grew up near Montgomery, MN, where she now lives with her husband, Logen.

Brook Sullivan, Business Administrator

Brook has been the Business Administrator of St. John's since 2006.  In November of 2010, he began splitting his time as business administrator of both St. John's and St. Joseph's in Hopkins. Prior to St. John's, Brook worked as a Nursing Home Administrator.  He is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas and has a certificate in Nursing Home Administration from the University of Minnesota.  Originally from Elk River, Brook and his wife Anne live in Maple Grove with their four children.

Chuck Romportl, Faith Formation Director

St. John's welcomes Chuck as our new faith formation director as of July 1, 2011, a position he also has with St. Joseph’s in Hopkins, since 1972. He has a BA in education from the U of M and an MA in Theology from St. John’s University. A lifelong resident of Hopkins, Chuck and his wife Mary have two grown children: a daughter in Sacramento, CA and a son in St. Louis Park.

Katie Schafer, Music Director

Katie has been a member of St. John's since 1998. She has been Director of Music since 2007. She received a B.A. in Music from the College of St. Scholastica.

Mary Fran Karanikolas, Parish Secretary

Mary Fran has been the administrative assistant at St. John's since 2004.  Prior to St. John's, she worked at Pax Christi Catholic Church and the Basilica of St. Mary in administration and outreach.  She is a Benedictine oblate of Saint John's Abbey in Collegeville, MN.  She and her husband Bill live in Eden Prairie.  They visit one son in New York City and another son in Seattle.

Tony Jaroscak, Maintenance Director

Tony has been Maintenance Director at St. John’s since December 2008.  He has two daughters and a son.  Prior to coming to St. John’s he worked at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.  Tony has many years of experience in the building Maintenance field.
