TRAVELING CHALICE/VOCATION THOUGHTS

A reflection from someone who hosted the Traveling Chalice kit:  ". . .I felt a sense of awe as I held the chalice. . .I felt sadness when I looked at (the picture of) our beautiful altar with no priest. . .I have known priests, Sisters, deacons and a bishop who has served at St. John's. . .I pray in gratitude for all of them. . .I pray for more vocations, especially for more priests so they can continue to give us the most precious gift of all, the Body and Blood of Jesus. . ."

This week the Traveling Chalice kit will be hosted by Marianne Wertzler and her children Ashley and Marcus; they will lead us in the call we have to raise up vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life from our parish community.

Quarterly Statements & Parish Annual Report

You should have all received your statements and a copy of our annual report in the mail by now.  If you did not get your copy in the mail, please let me know.  With the addition of our beautiful new doors, I’d like to remind everyone that our improvements are ongoing.   The remaining Share in the Vision capital campaign funds, and anticipated funds, are designated for upcoming improvements.  Most notably, the replacement and updating of the rest of the school windows, continued, but reduced, school subsidies and repair work on the Interlachen Road sidewalk/steps.  Have a great weekend, Brook Sullivan

Father Goman reports that he will have received nine radiation treatments by this weekend, of the 43 he is to receive; he is feeling some possible side effects that are not serious; he says he is usually tired!  He also says that he knows these are minor compared to the healing that the prayers of family, parish and friends, as well as the medical care he is receiving, are giving him.
