World Mission Sunday Collection Weekend of October 22 Next weekend in every parish around the world, a collection is being taken up for Catholic missions in over 1150 dioceses. Your contribution today will go towards helping teachers and catechists to teach the faith in urban centers and remote villages. You will help to build churches and chapels in mission stations for people to worship, hear God’s word and receive sacraments. We will help in the effort to raise up and train new leaders who will minister to people in their own language. Your financial gift will go to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith which is a worldwide Catholic network of mission cooperation to enable the Gospel of Jesus Christ to reach to ends of the earth. Thank you for joining in this central work of the Church! |

From Archbishop Harry Flynn, As you recall, the last four consecutive years I have designated the second Sunday of October as Criminal Justice Sunday in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. This year the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches, through the initiative of Rev. Gary Reierson working with the collaborative Criminal Justice Working Groups of St. Stephen’s (Minneapolis), the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, and Federal FORUM, will join us in addressing the entire month of October as Criminal Justice Month in Minnesota. The pastoral letter, Responsibility, Rehabilitation, and Restoration, states that our task is to restore a sense of civility and responsibility to everyday life and promote rehabilitation. Awareness of Criminal Justice Month this October is one approach we can take. |
