Arise and Eat, Else the Journey Will Be Too Great for You.” (I Kings 19:7)

TRAVELING CHALICE/VOCATION THOUGHTS

The TRAVELING CHALICE reflections:  "Our family, having very young children, focused mainly on the prayers needed for those we currently know who are priests, sisters and other religious.  However, when asked by our oldest, ‘Why is the altar like that (a picture of the altar without a priest is part of the Traveling Chalice kit)?’  This brought to mind the absolute need for more priests, brothers and sisters. Our prayers then began to focus on bringing more people closer to God in this way.

The Traveling Chalice kit will be hosted by the Chris and Ann Ossanna family this week.  They witness to our congregation the need for prayers and encouragement by all of us to younger men and women to consider a religious vocation.

From Father Goman:

Today is the last Sunday of Year of Grace, 2005-2006, the Feast of Christ the King!  As the liturgical year ends, we are pointed toward the end of time itself, and the return of Jesus, King of the Universe.  This is the time of the final judgment of the living and the dead.  Some of us might fear this time, the Parosia, and look at it with anxiety.  Nevertheless, the liturgy and the Scriptures for this feast form us in HOPE.  What we have striven to become in this life as "another Christ," will come to perfection at that time.  So, in fact, we long for and pray for the end of this world and the coming of God's world in all its glory and perfection.
