Arise and Eat, Else the Journey Will Be Too Great for You.” (I Kings 19:7)

TRAVELING CHALICE/VOCATION THOUGHTS

Reflections from a Traveling Chalice Family:  "We recited the prayer for vocations before dinner and then discussed the priesthood during dinner. Our discussion focused mostly on the challenges of being a priest and what we like about those we have met over the years.  We talked about the possibility of people in our family being a priest or sister and having an open mind to consider a religious vocation."

This week, the TRAVELING CHALICE will be hosted by Cathy Rude and family, who will lead our parish in prayer and discussion about religious vocations.

Please keep the family of Liz Wanger in your prayers as they mourn the death of her brother, Thomas McKeown.

You too can receive a personalized "thank you" for your financial pledge to the parish for the next calendar year, 2007.  HOWEVER, YOU HAVE TO MAKE A PLEDGE FIRST.  I need to remind about 285 registered family units in the parish to PLEASE respond to my request that you return the pledge card you received a number of weeks ago, indicating what your donation will be to the parish's budget for fiscal year 2007–8.  Responsible budget planning for the parish—like budget planning in your family—begins with knowing what income we have to work with.  About 185 family units have done so—thank you!— which means a majority have not done so.  YOUR PLEDGE IS ESSENTIAL to our responsible and balanced budget planning process.  And YOUR PLEDGE IS ESSENTIAL to you as well.  A pledge of "treasure," like your pledge of "time and talent," is a statement of faith and of willingness to promote, support, and enhance our faith and our parish by your contribution.  Pledge cards are available through a visit or a call to the parish office.

Thank you for a prompt response to my request.     —Father Goman
