Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

November 12, 2006

The 2006 Bright Beginning Brunch is over for another year and what a successful gathering it was! A very special thank you goes out to Amy Tickle, Suzette Burley, Julie Holland and Jenny Brace for their fine leadership of this event.  Over 140 people attended this year in the beautiful setting of the Metropolitan Ballroom.  The Silent Auction had hundreds of items that were all donated by parishioners, parents and friends of the school.  Brian Burley was the MC of the day and John Miller kept the bidding lively on amazing live auction items.  We were so blessed that Father Goman could join us and lead us in prayer.  This is the school’s biggest fundraiser of the year, so for all who participated, the school staff and students thank you. If you were not able to attend this year, mark your calendars for the first weekend in November 2007!

This Sunday, November 12th, there will be a meeting for all those 10th - 12th graders and adults who are interested in helping plan the upcoming retreats this winter.  The meeting will take place from 7:15-8:30 pm in Leo's Den at St. John's.  Even if you have not yet attended a meeting, but you think you are interested, come and join us!
All are welcome.
Mark your calendars for our annual Cardboard Campout on Saturday, November 18th.  This is an event to raise awareness in ourselves and in our community about our local problems with affordable housing.  In conjunction with ICA's quest to fight homelessness, our youth will support their cause by collecting donations and learning about this problem.  All parishioners are encouraged to support this cause by sponsoring our group—donations go to ICA.  For the event, we will sleep overnight in cardboard boxes on the front lawn of St. Joe's.  The event begins at 10:30 am when we will head downtown to serve at a soup kitchen.  We will return at approximately 2 pm to continue with activities.  Students should be picked up at 8am on Sunday.  If you cannot participate for the duration of the event, you are still welcome to come, but you MUST notify the youth office in advance.  Permission slips are necessary for all youth participants, and they have to provide their own box.  This is a unique and enjoyable opportunity for our youth.  Adult help is needed. Contact the Youth Office if you have any questions or you would like to volunteer.
There will be no Youth Gathering on Sunday, November 19th due to the Cardboard Campout.

Book of the Dead

Those who have died before us live on in our memory and hearts. We would like to invite you to honor your loved ones by signing their names in the church’s Book of the Dead located near the baptismal font. The book will remain up for the month of November. The Community will remember these loved ones in prayer. Housebound parishioners may call the office at 952-935-5536 to enter names of their beloved dead.

Dinner at Your Door (Meals on Wheels) Drivers Needed

We always welcome new volunteers, but especially come winter we need two to three drivers to cover for regular

volunteers who go south for the next few months. Time required is one and one half hours once a month to deliver noon meals. For information call

Archie Black at 952-938-6441.
