Arise and Eat, Else the Journey Will Be Too Great for You.” (I Kings 19:7)

TRAVELING CHALICE/VOCATION THOUGHTS

Reflections from a Traveling Chalice family:

Our entire family participated in the discussions and contributed to our focus and prayer for vocations.

We discussed what must be the most difficult things about being in a religious vocation. Our children gained a better understanding of how commitment and sacrifice are a part of many adult lives especially when people are trying to live the life God desires for them.

The first followers of Jesus were ordinary men. God is looking for ordinary men and women.

The presence of the Chalice on our table was a constant reminder of the call of a religious vocation. We will continue to pray for intercession through Mary for more men and women in religious vocations.

This week John and Christine Miller and their children will lead our parish in prayer for vocations by hosting the TRAVELING CHALICE.

Father Goman writesI join the Millers and all of you in prayer for religious vocations.  The dedicated and pastoral priests who are substituting for me these weeks are inspirations and reminders that we priests need eager and faithful men to replace us eventually.  We need priests so that the great prayer of the Mass and Eucharist, which continues the redemption of Jesus for each of us, will continue to be celebrated with us and for us. —Father Ralph
