PEACE TO YOU ALL!

Fourteen of our young parishioners were confirmed at St. Paul Cathedral last Monday evening.  The power and the presence of the Spirit of God is in this community in greater measure because of their commitment to be active and faithful members of the Church of God.  Let us continue to pray for them in thanksgiving and in prayer that their presence in the celebration of Mass and in the activities of the parish will bring new gifts to all that we are and all that we do for God's glory and the good of God's people.  Welcome them with prayer and support.

Today, twenty-seven of our young parishioners receive their First Holy Communion.  Their obvious holiness and joy will only be increased by the living and growing presence of Jesus in their lives.  Welcome them with prayer and support as well.

The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate way that God shares life with us in our human journey.  But there are so many other ways that God shares life with us, and many of them are through what we do for each other.  In the summer of 2004, while my mother stayed at the rectory for about five weeks before she died, parishioners brought in meals six days a week for her, her resident care-giver, Deacon Thomas Joseph (who was assigned to our parish that summer for pastoral experience) and myself.  Last summer and early fall, when I had the ankle fusion surgery and was "off my feet" for eight weeks, again parishioners brought in meals five days a week for my resident care-giver, for Father Kevin Magner who was assigned here during that time for pastoral care of the parish, and myself.  Since last September, when Father Mark Mallak moved in on a special assignment from his diocese, parishioners again brought in meals once or twice a week.  That generous practice has continued even after he moved back to his diocese in late March.  Margaret LeSage, the "organizer" of this long line of culinary experts, tells me that about 100 individuals or families have made up that list!  My waist-line is the only negative aspect of this generosity on the part of so many of you.  I thank you for the love and care that has been evident by pot roasts and pork roasts, soups, salads and appetizers, desserts and snacks.  You all have my unending gratitude and praise, and my promise to reciprocate in any way that I might be able to.  God bless your goodness that is evidence of such goodness in all this community.
