We will continue Youth Activity Nights on June 17th and 24th as well.

On Sunday, June 10th, St. John’s and St. Joe’s will be honoring their senior graduates at a Baccalaureate Mass and Reception. The mass will be at St. Joe’s at 10:30AM with a reception to follow in the Social Hall. All are welcome to join us in congratulating the class of 2007. If you have any questions, contact the youth office.

On Saturday, June 16th, the youth will have a free-will donation Car Wash Fundraiser in support of this summer’s mission to Oklahoma City. It will be held at Bauer’s Express Lube on Baker Rd. and Excelsior Blvd. from 9AM-3PM. Come and support the youth mission!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 26th for our annual youth outing to Valleyfair! We will meet at St. Joe’s at 9AM and return at 6PM. The cost for the event is $25 which includes a group-rate ticket and transportation. Friends are welcome to this event and permission slips are required for all participants.

The last “official” Ensemble Choir appearance was this past Sunday, the Feast of Pentecost.

I am so grateful for the support of all involved in our Music Ministry this past year.  Members of the Ensemble Choir, Schola, 6pm Mass musicians, Resurrection Choir, Children’s Choir and our keyboardists, instrumentalists, soloists, cantors and music librarians and helpers deserve many thanks for their countless hours of dedication and service.

I am sure all of them join me in thanking our parishioners who have supported us by your encouragement, support, and thanks this year.  By joining us in raising your voices in songs of praise to God, you have enriched our liturgies.

The choir will return in the fall, refreshed and renewed.  As always, we are looking forward to new members joining us for our Eucharistic Celebrations.

My wish for all of you is to have a happy, safe summer filled with music.  Remember to sing out at Mass wherever you are, and to “keep a song in your hearts.”

                                     Gratefully, Katie Schafer

                                     Director of Music Ministry

Global Solidarity Sunday

June 3, 2007

This Sunday has been designated as Global Solidarity Sunday in the Archdiocese. The second “Opportunity Outreach” collection today is for that cause. Donations can be made next weekend or by mail if you wish. Mark your check “Global Solidarity.” Our parish community is in communion with parish communities all over the globe. The outreach collection will go towards the budding but vibrant churches in Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe, and to Catholic Relief Services, the highly respected US. Catholic Church’s global relief and development organization. There are other ways in which our parish can manifest its global solidarity. For more information about how to do that, call the Archdiocesan Center for Mission at 651-291-4504.
