Youth Office Contact Information: 952-935-5536 ext. 6 or robyn_magalska@yahoo.com .

Thank you to the parishioners of St. John's who so
graciously supported our youth mission trip to Oklahoma through prayers and monetary donations.  The trip was a
success!  The work each student did varied from sorting food at the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank, weeding and planting seed for that food bank, building a wheel chair ramp, replacing rotted wood on houses/garages, painting, yard work and more!  We feel very blessed to have
your support.

On Wednesday, August 1st, we will have our last official youth outing while I am the director. We will be going to the Twins game!  Meet at St. Joe's at 5:30PM.  We'll return to St. Joe's around 10:30PM but the return time could vary due to the length of the game.  Price for participation has not yet been determined but can be found on the permission slips (available in the Church Gathering space).  Come and join in on the fun!

Give your child the gift of a lifetime – a Catholic education!  St. John’s is still accepting registration for Preschool through 6th grade.  Please call the school office for more information at 952-935-7787.

Dear Seniors,

A noticeable number of St. John’s

Parishioners have mentioned the absence of a senior gathering. After the previous

gatherings they would enjoy greeting

those they had met when they saw

them at Mass and in the community.

As a result some of us have planned

a GATHERING for August 1, 2007 in the

church Community Room at

11:00 am for social time and

lunch. No reservations

needed. Everyone is welcome.

A freewill  offering will be

accepted. Contact Carol and Dick Olson

if you  have questions: 952-546-3175.

Please join us and help us plan

the future activities.

Opportunity Outreach Peter’s Pence Collection

The theme for the 2007 Peter’s Pence Collection for the works of the Holy Father is Let us make sure that none of God’s children ever feels alone. The theme is based on a homily given by Pope Benedict XVI in September 2006, when the Pope explained how those who are baptized create one family of believers who are never alone. Contributions to the Peter’s Pence Collection: Enable the Holy Father to respond with immediate emergency assistance to the most disadvantaged throughout the world—those who suffer as a result of war, oppression, disease, and natural disasters; involve the more than one billion Catholics worldwide in supporting the Holy Father’s mission; have totaled more than $175 million in contributions by dioceses of the United States, who generously provide nearly half of all gifts

THE BEGINNINGS OF PETER’S PENCE

The worldwide Peter’s Pence began as a “pence” in ninth-century England, when King Alfred the Great collected monies from English landowners as financial support for the Pope. Pope Pius IX formally instituted the modem Peter’s Pence Collection in the 1860s. Special appeals have since been held in many countries on the Sunday closest to June 29, the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. The tradition of an annual collection continues today for the charitable works of the Holy Father. HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Pray—Please pray for the Holy Father, asking God’s blessing on his mission of justice and peace for all.

Give—Please consider increasing your offering to help build a better world for those most in need.

Please visit the Web site at www.usccb.org/ppc for more information.
