WELCOME TO ALL! Its back! Yes, R. C. I. A.—the program to introduce the Catholic faith by Scripture, prayer, explanations and discussions, will be offered beginning later in September and running through Easter. People who are interested in renewing their faith, people who are not Catholic and either marrying or married to a Catholic or just interested in finding out more about the Catholic faith, people who are Catholic and have some concerns or questions about the faith or the Catholic Church—these are candidates for R. C. I. A. You will recognize immediately that most of the probable candidates will not be reading this invitation. They will hear the invitation from YOU, only you! So, please consider someone who might benefit from this program, pray for them, invite them to it, and either have them call me or you call me so I can follow through on the invitation. The first step is this contact, but a second major step is attending the first session. Folks most often need a friend to accompany them. Maybe you can also be that friend. More information will be coming in this bulletin, or please call me with specific questions. Remember, all are welcome! Courteous and thoughtful reminders for the summer: · Park carefully: use the parking lot and the school playground, and if you park on the streets around the church, park on the pavement, not the neighbors’ lawns. · Dress for church: remember you are entering into the house of God to be with God and neighbor. · Check: be sure to put your assignment as lector, altar server, sacristan or Eucharistic Minister on your family calendar. Often there is a “frenzy” in the sacristy before Mass because one or more ministers did not remember their assignment. · Pray: God has given us (but, unfortunately, not those who farm the land) a beautiful summer. Enjoy it, be careful; pray for safety, for farmers and a good harvest, rain, and for those who cannot take time to enjoy the beauty of nature that God has given us. · Plan ahead: for the Garage Sale on September 8th to be a volunteer for our food booth or, for sure, to be a customer, for the parish Leadership Meeting (committee and council members, staff and interested parishioners) on Tuesday, September 11th, and for the Fall Fiesta on Saturday, September 29th, at the 5:00 p.m. Mass with food and fun afterward with the Hispanic Community and Bishop Richard Pates. · Mostly: pray for peace, and take some time for self, family, friends and relaxation to enjoy what God has given us. —Father Ralph
