BROTHERS AND SISTERS:

This Sunday is officially known as the 2nd SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME.  The term “ordinary” in our culture means something like “commonplace.”  In the Vatican documents—

in Latin—the term is much deeper:  “ordered time,” “counted time.”  The Sundays of Ordinary Time run from now until Lent, and begin again after the Easter season.  The “ordered” or “ordinary” title means that these Sundays guide us toward or are ordered toward the magnificent purpose of our faith journey:  life with God forever.  Those Ordinary Sundays are interrupted in the Church year by the seasons of Advent-Christmas and Lent-Easter, powerful times that celebrate how God through Jesus guides us, orders our life, through death to sin and injustice, hatred and war, to forgiveness, peace, and justice now, and eternal happiness forever.  We call this the Paschal Mystery:  the life, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus. We live His life

and will share eternal, perfect life with God when Jesus returns in glory to transform our lives and all life

into the Kingdom of God.

I hope that we are good and generous to the LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR by welcoming them and donating to their mission of serving the poor and elderly in the Twin Cities area in the second opportunity outreach collection this weekend.  They certainly are good to us.

Please enjoy the annual Catholic Schools’ Week PANCAKE BREAKFAST next Sunday morning.  I will not be able to join you because I have a vacation break from the 15th through the 23rd and will be warming up some place south!

Evangelization Initiative

The miracle at the wedding feast revealed Jesus’ glory and “his disciples began to believe in him.” The call to discipleship is made also to each of us and is the theme of the third year of the Evangelization Initiative. We invite those in existing Initiative small groups in the parish to begin thinking about continuing this year during Lent. And we invite those who would like to begin the Initiative process to contact Karen Fish at 952-933-4701 or the

Parish Office at 952-935-5536.
