Prayer Corner

From Deacon Jim Murphy

Ministry/Vocations are not the work of the few.

It is the work of many.  If we take seriously our call as Christians, we need to discern what we are called to do.  We can’t all be prophets.  But we can play a role in building the kingdom of God.  We can make visible our love for God and our fellow human beings.

The Traveling Chalice Prayer for Vocations that we just completed was a huge success.  The initial written responses by those who participated were very spiritual.  As a result St. John’s is going to continue this vocation ministry on a volunteer

basis.  There will be a sign up sheet in the foyer.  This is a wonderful way for all of us to pray for religious vocations.

We will also be starting our “Called By Name”

campaign.  Cards for your response on possible candidates for religious vocations will be in the pews soon.
