GREETINGS TO ALL, AND WELCOME TO EVERYONE
This wonderful parish gave CAROLE KEEHN a wonderful tribute on the last Sunday of July, celebrating her retirement as our Parish Business Administrator with special prayers, tributes and blessings at Mass, and a beautiful reception in the Community Room after Mass. August 4 is her last official day, and that week will see her working with our new Parish Business Administrator, BROOK SULLIVAN. Brook has been looking over Carole’s shoulder a few times already, and I know he will pick up the many responsibilities of that position quickly. I look forward to introducing Brook and his family to the parish soon.
The TRAVELING CHALICE has been the centerpiece in the homes of 24 parish families since last February when we began this vocation effort. After school begins, we will be recruiting families to host the Traveling Chalice kit again. Those who host the Traveling Chalice take the leadership in prayer and family discussion about vocations as priest, brother or sister in our church for a week, a responsibility each of us have all the time. We are assured by such prayer, and the generosity from young people that will follow such prayer, that quality and holy leadership will be raised up in our church. The saving message of Jesus Christ—redemption from sin, holiness, unity and peace through him now, and life forever—must be proclaimed and taught through the ages. Our prayer and encouragement to follow a religious vocation will assure such a response to the command of Jesus.
The Academy of the Holy Angels sent their “honors” list recently. MARDIE BLESSING and MICHAEL LICK from our parish and from our parish school were named on that listing. Congratulations to them as well as to those named earlier from DeLaSalle and Benilde-St.Margaret’s high schools.
Newly trained Altar Servers will be seen at weekend Masses soon. Young people from our parish from the 5th grade through high school are welcome as servers. Any student who has not yet been registered as a server and would like to be, is encouraged to have a parent email or call me soon. ALL SERVERS, veteran and new, are called to a special meeting on Sunday, September 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room. Twins tickets and concession stand coupons, some treats, and some important news about serving will fill the one-hour meeting. Put it on your calendars now. I know some parents will be eager to help with this event—so please call me so I can share the work!! —Father Ralph |
