JESUS LIVES! JOY ABOUNDS! A BLESSED AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!
Joy, hope and peace are signs in our lives that celebrate our faith in Jesus, risen from the dead. Our lives, our works, our prayers now are signs of triumph over evil, signs of light in the darkness of confusion and worry, signs of life in the midst of fear and death. These signs we give forth tell others to whom we belong, in whom we believe and whose words and works shape our lives. Jesus, risen from the death, reveals that there is life beyond death, that death is not the end of our existence. Jesus’ body rose from the dead. Resurrection for us too means a bodily resurrection. Resurrection does not mean immortality or reincarnation; it does mean that resurrection for us somehow includes a body. We become what we were in this existence; our choices are brought to their completion and perfection. So this day, and every day, is incalculably important not only for our happiness now—and the happiness of others—but also for our eternal happiness with God and with each other. May this day and this holy, happy, promising season be blessed and joyful for each of us and all our brothers and sisters in faith throughout the world who celebrate faith in Jesus Christ, risen from the dead!
The celebrations throughout the season of Lent and through Holy Week to this day have been well planned and practiced by all who took part in leading them: the church cleaners and decorators, the lectors and servers, the choirs and cantors and musicians, the hospitality and soup dinner servers, the sacristans, ushers, greeters and Eucharistic Ministers. To name them all is dangerous because not all would be named! But not to express our gratitude to all would be a gross error. Obviously, there are dozens and dozens of parishioners who have made it possible for all of us to enter into the spirit and the spirituality of these most holy days. Thank you all!
The generous sharing of time and talent of all those volunteers is matched by the generous financial gifts that also characterize this holy time of year. We express our gratitude to God for our salvation in Jesus Christ, by giving an extra monetary offering at Easter-time, as well as by our extra presence and prayer in liturgies of these holy days. Thank you all for that gift as well. Have a blessed Easter day and season. Your grateful pastor, Father Ralph Goman
