Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole
Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis
ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments.
Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of
God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the
Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament
of regeneration through water in the word." (Catechism of
the Catholic Church, 1213)
Baptisms are normally scheduled on the second Sunday of the
month, either during or immediately following the 10:00 a.m.
Mass. Parents and godparents of those to be baptized are required
to attend a baptism class, held the third Thursday of every
other month during the summer at 6:30 p.m. in the parish conference
room, and the third Saturday of the month during the winter
at 3:30 p.m.. Please call the parish office two months prior
to Baptism to schedule the required preparation conference.
